The Singing Swans
The singing swans were the children of the king, Lir of the Tuatha Dé Danann, who married a war-witch named Aoife. Jealous of his children by a previous wife she transformed them all into swans. Lir had a harpist play to the children in swan form as they nested on Lough Darravaragh while awaiting reincarnation to human form over 400 years of exile.

Goddess Boann
Boann was the river-goddess of the river Boyne and a warrior princess of the mystical tribe known as the Tuatha Dé Danann who came to Ireland in earliest times in a fleet of ships that ‘sailed the high air and the low air’ and conquered the island of Éireann. She also gave her name to the river Bóinn, or Boyne, in Co. Meath, which runs beside the Brú at Newgrange.

Dublin City
Dublin, like most great cities, did not grow overnight. Founded by the Vikings over a thousand years ago, it has evolved through the Middle Ages and Georgian Era to become one of the friendliest and most fashionable capitals in Europe.
The name Dublin derives from the two Irish words Dubh (black) and Lynn (pool). The Black Pool was a small tidal pool formed where the River Poddle entered the River Liffey. The official Irish name for the city is Baile Atha Cliath, or the “Town of the Hurdled Ford”. This refers to an ancient ford across the River Liffey, which was situated near the modern Father Mathew Bridge.

Liam Blake was born in Dublin, Ireland and developed a keen interest in photography at an early age. An award winning photographer, Liam works almost exclusively in Ireland and his work for Real Ireland Design was responsible for ushering in a new worldwide appreciation of the beauty of Ireland through its ranges of postcards, calendars, books, posters and now jigsaw puzzles.
He is the author of several photographic books and has exhibited his work in galleries throughout Ireland.

The Wild Atlantic Way is the World's longest coastal driving route. It stretches from County Donegal in the north all along the wild and rugged west coast of Ireland to County Cork in the south. Taking in seven Irish counties the route offers spectacular views of the Irish Atlantic coast taking in many of the unique features of Ireland such as the magnificent Cliffs of Moher, the Burren, colourful and vibrant towns, traditional Irish Pubs and many other fantastic attractions.
This beautifully produced calendar features the work of celebrated Irish landscape photographer Liam Blake. Liam travels the length and breadth of the country throughout the year in order to capture images of the wild and wonderful landscapes of Ireland.
The calendar has been produced utilising a fine art printing process which renders the images in a much higher resolution more akin to a photographic print.
There is a location map which shows where the photographs were taken and the calendarium also shows the phases of the moon.

Doors of Dublin Poster-Print

This Poster-Print celebrates the eighteenth and nineteenth century doors of Dublin, perhaps the most iconic images of the city’s architectural Golden Age. Many theories have been put forward to explain why they are so brightly painted and ornamented, none unfortunately likely to be true. It has been suggested, for instance, that the practice originated at the time of Elizabeth 1, when a Puritan administrator decreed that all the city’s door and window frames should be the same drab brown colour. In an act of the defiance, the artistic and expressive population responded by painting them in the brightest hues they could find. A similar story dates from reign of Queen Victoria in the late 1800’s. Some claim that after the death of her beloved husband Prince Albert, the grieving monarch ordered all the doors in Dublin painted black in his memory. Once again the rebellious Dubliners refused and turned their front doors into a riot of colour.
